Month in Review:
+ Canada’s Smartest Kitchen Product Developers, Chef Christine Murnaghan and Vicki Leggo, started the month at the Institute of Food Technologist’s – Annual Expo in New Orleans, Louisiana USA. They attended short educational courses, including sessions on plant protein research and uses; networked with booth reps and international companies, and experienced local culinary offerings and food science trends from across the world.
+ Our multi-disciplinary CSK team were featured in the June 2019 – Food Island Partnership Newsletter, highlighting recent updates and our full complement of staff.
+ Chef Allan Williams was involved in an on-site film shoot at Canada’s Smartest Kitchen showcasing successful client project collaborations with Tony’s Meats in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, utilizing the NSERC and Springboard Atlantic networks
+ CSK Operations Coordinator, Tammy Wall presented at the Food & Beverage Atlantic Industry Seminar in Wolfville, Nova Scotia; sessions covered the recreational cannabis market in Canada, sustainable packaging and zero-waste circular economy, as well as continuing trends in the beer, wine, spirit, and cider/beverage sectors.
+ Staff were involved with a special event honouring Chef Anthony Bourdain; hosted by the PEI Culinary Federation on Victoria Row in Charlottetown, it brought together members of the Island culinary community to discuss mental health and wellness in the industry.

+ Chef Jennifer Bryant & CSK Intern Ashton have been working tirelessly and efficiently in the kitchen over the last couple of weeks on a spectacular client food styling shoot, including developing recipes and creative cooking for over a hundred dishes.

Trend Alert:
+ Highlighted at the Food & Beverage Atlantic Industry Seminar, the number of breweries in Canada continues to increase with over 21% growth from 2017 to 2018. The Maritime provinces continue to lead this trend, with New Brunswick having the most breweries per 100,000 drinking age adults; Nova Scotia is second, and Prince Edward Island ranks third overall in the country.
