October 2019 Recap:
+ CSK Food Scientist Vicki Leggo and Director Tim McRoberts started the month off by participating in a documentary media filming project on site regarding cannabis research with regional production company, Flower Power Productions
+ Also, early in October, Canada’s Smartest Kitchen acted as host with Holland College’s Applied Research department for staff from ACOA and NSERC for beneficial roundtable discussions on research opportunities and regional collaborations
+ On Wednesday, October 16 we celebrated the 10 Year Anniversary of the grand opening of Canada’s Smartest Kitchen at the Tourism & Culinary Centre in Charlottetown: activities included an online interactive giveaway contest for the community and promotional staff biography blitz, to highlight the amazing team leading CSK into the future!
+ A number of CSK staff attended the 2ndannual Forage PEI food symposium on October 17 & 18, with highlights including keynote speaker Farmer Lee Jones on Day 1 and the roving feast “Day of Country Fire” on Day 2 of programming at The Inn at Bay Fortune
+ At the end of the month, CSK received our new state-of-the-art VEMAG 500 vacuum filler for food product extrusion & deposit, increasing the valuable services we offer to our clients. We are grateful for the support of NSERC for the new equipment!
