Month in Review:
+ Canada’s Smartest Kitchen was the location host for the 2019 Best of Sea Competition, August 19 & 20; this is an annual competition among local Island chefs, to showcase the “best seafood and culinary talent in the world”. Chef Jesse MacDonald, of David’s at Rodd Crowbush, was a double winner this year and will represent PEI at the Garland Canada International Chef Challenge in September at the Shellfish Festival.
+ Allan and Ashton curated a corporate chef event mid-month in New Brunswick, featuring local fare and beautiful views of mainland NB at the Magnetic Hill Winery.
+ At the end of August, we said farewell to our two Summer 2019 interns, Ashton & Marina; Ashton will continue her professional career, taking on a culinary role in a local restaurant and Marina will continue her educational journey. We wish them both well! Every summer, CSK hires interns for interactive and innovative practical work experience, watch for more details next winter for our 2020 call out.
+ While August is a prime summer vacation month on the Island, our staff were continuously busy preparing for the fun and food packed fall season ahead: watch for our involvement highlights at the upcoming Fall Flavours PEI, Savour Victoria, PEI International Shellfish Festival, Forage PEI, and more!
+ We are hiring! CSK is currently recruiting for an Operations Coordinator to join us, with applications now being accepted via Holland College – Human Resources, with a deadline of Monday, September 16 2019. If you want to join an innovative and dynamic team environment, with shared multi-disciplinary talents in culinary arts, food science, and business market research, we’d love to hear from you!
