PRODUCT DEVELOPER
Alex Gallant-Wood is both a trained chef, graduating from the Culinary Institute of Canada, and a Registered Dietitian, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition at the University of Prince Edward Island. She is currently in the process of attaining her Red Seal as a Chef. Prior to joining Canada’s Smartest Kitchen, she had 8 years of experience working in the food industry from her time spent cooking in fast food, deli, bakery, pub, buffet, banquet, and long-term care food service establishments to her time spent as a dietitian or dietetic intern in grocery stores, long-term care facilities, and hospitals, honing her skills in clinical, food service management, and community dietetics.
She brings with her a diverse background of expertise as a dietitian, chef, and food science graduate being able to marry the creativity, taste, and food skill of her culinary background with the nutrition and food service management knowledge of her dietetics background, and the food science and product development expertise of her degree.
Her time as a dietitian has also given her experience working in complex environments balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and managing financial, food safety, and organizational requirements. This gives her confidence in her ability to communicate effectively to clients, understand their needs, stay organized, and abide by all project parameters.
